For many people, going to the dentist is a stressful business. Indeed, a few decades ago, most procedures did incur discomfort on the part of the patient; however, with so many advances in dental medicine, this sort of pain is no longer necessary. If your dental clinic still fills you with fear then it is probably time to switch to new dentist who is fully versed in contemporary, pain-free methodologies. Today, more and more dentists are turning to laser treatments in place of the old drill procedures. Lasers make for pain-free soft tissue surgery and also reduce the risk of uncomfortable infection to the treated area because, unlike metal implements, the beam cannot carry bacteria.
For minor procedures, and often for those conducted using laser tools, nitrous oxide replaces the traditional injected numbing agent. This means that those not keen on needles can draw breath and relax. Nitrous oxide is inhaled and therefore pain-free. (more...) According to a recent dental survey conducted by Royal York Dental in Etobicoke Toronto, above ninety per cent of their patients leave the surgery satisfy. This proves, so Royal York Dental suggest, that their unique approach to dentistry results in happier, more relaxed clients who are likely to return. The survey was conducted by an independent agency and patients were sent a series of questions via email the day after their visit to the dentist. Every participant was allowed to remain anonymous and responded to questions online on a private site. The survey asks participants to answer questions using a three-option multiple choice which runs along the lines of strongly agree, agree and disagree, although the wording varies with each question. Above ninety per cent of participants strongly agree, the survey reveals, with the way dentistry is conducted by the professionals at Royal York Dental. (more...) For many people, a trip to the dentist is something of a nightmare. We spend a long time vetting several surgeries until we find the dentist with whom we feel the most comfortable and we stick with this professional. If a dental emergency befalls you on your holiday or business, or at home on a holiday during which your own practice is closed, you will be forced to visit an emergency dental clinic and undergo surgery at the hands of a different dentist. This seems like a grim scenario for those wary of dentists in general, however, potential emergency patients should be comforted in the knowledge that dentistry of all kinds across Europe and America has advanced to ensure minimal pain on the part of the patient. If you find yourself in need of a dentist while in a foreign country and you have taken out travel insurance to cover against injury and illness, the first thing you should do is phone your insurance agents. They will direct you to the nearest dental clinic where your problem will be treated. (more...) Many people arrive at the dentist worried and embarrassed over the state of their teeth, or the fact that they haven't been for a check up in a while. This sense of guilt and anxiety, an Etobicoke dentist tells us, is one of the number one reasons people dislike dental visits. Paradoxically, the sense of shame puts people off scheduling an appointment, which in the end only makes the potential patient feel worse.
The first thing to do to ensure your dental check up runs smoothly, is to make the dreaded appointment. The longer you avoid visiting the dentist, the more likely it is that there will be something wrong with your teeth to feel anxious and embarrassed about.
It is also vitally important that the dentist you select to treat your teeth is the right professional for you. If you are a little dentist-shy and have had some bad teeth experiences, the dental practitioner you choose should be particularly sensitive and gentle, and should, in addition, implement new technologies in pain-free dentistry. Luckily, a whole host of options is available to rectify dental malformations and missing teeth and, as any good implant dentist will tell you, these procedures can certainly change your life. A dental implant is a titanium root which is placed into the tooth socket and then used as the base for a constructed fake. Individual false teeth of this kind are often used in cases where patients have a single tooth missing, or where, for some reason, a tooth has had to be pulled from the mouth. Missing teeth are unsightly and constitute a huge blow to a person's self esteem. A good implant is indistinguishable from the real teeth around it and will repair an uneven smile and restore a whole lot of confidence as well. (more...) Misshapen and sporadic teeth can negatively affect life in a number of areas. Not simply an aesthetic problem, an awkward bite makes chewing uncomfortable, and can even impact on speech. If this is a problem by which you are afflicted, rest assured that help is at hand. Any good implant dentist will be able to remedy the difficult bite situation in no time, with positive aesthetic effects as well. Dental implants are, simply put, titanium roots inserted in place of an authentic root that has had to be removed, or which has been knocked out. The implant is installed in order to support a dental prosthesis, such as a crown or dentures. (more...) While in the past only celebrities were treated to cosmetic dentistry today that Hollywood smile is well within your reach. With more and more dental surgeries offering effective cosmetic procedures, you will more than likely find that you are spoilt for choice. The most common cosmetic dental procedure is, of course, tooth whitening. This is the remedy to all kind of staining, most of which is caused by too much tea or coffee and too many cigarettes. The process is painless and reasonably quick and it involves having chemical painted on the teeth. Depending on how bad the discolouration is, your chemical whitening may have to run over several sessions. If the stains are yellow or brown, the residue of caffeine and tobacco, they should shift relatively easily. However if you have blue dental staining, which is the result of childhood medications, you may be required to return to the surgery several times. (more...)
